From
whom will I collect my settlement?
For the most part, personal injury victims collect compensation
from an insurance company. This includes auto insurance, medical
insurance, health insurance, umbrella policies, and homeowners
insurance. In some cases (when the defendant's insurance does
not cover the extent of your damages), your own insurance
company may supply the payment.
It is
in your best interest to have a lawyer deal with the insurance
companies. It is often difficult to decipher insurance laws
and it can be quite frustrating dealing with insurance adjusters. We
know the ins and outs of the business and we can help you get
the settlement you deserve.
What about
self representation? In some situations, taking the case to small
claims court can be quicker and more economical for the plaintiff.
However, this is usually only true for more minor personal injuries
with clear cut circumstances. It is important to remember that even
in obvious cases, self representation can cheat you out of damages that
only a well trained lawyer could help you receive. Contact us for a

What to do after a car accident:
- Be sure a police officer, sheriff or highway patrolman files a report
- Obtain names, insurance information, drivers license numbers, addresses
and telephone numbers of everyone involved in the accident. Be sure to take
down the names and numbers of witnesses as well.
- Photographs on the scene are key. Take pictures of the vehicles involved
and all injuries. We recommend keeping a disposable camera in you glove box at
all times.
- Only speak to your doctor or lawyer following the accident. Do not sign anything
or say anything to an insurance adjuster without a lawyer present. Things you do now
can be distorted and used against you in court.
- Get medical attention as soon as possible and report any symptoms you encounter
no matter how minor they seem.
